My Village in Cameroon – Bafut
Bafut is a village located in the North West Region of Cameroon, known for its rich cultural heritage and strong traditional leadership. Life in Bafut is deeply rooted in community values, where respect for elders and tradition plays a central role.
The village is surrounded by rolling hills and fertile land, making agriculture an important part of daily life. Many families grow crops such as maize, beans, and vegetables both for consumption and trade.
One of the most unique aspects of Bafut is its traditional palace, which serves as both a cultural and historical centre. Festivals bring the community together, with music, dance, and colourful attire reflecting identity and pride.
Despite modern influences, Bafut maintains a strong connection to its roots, making it a place where tradition and daily life coexist naturally.
Having lived in Cameroon and experienced life across different regions, I have seen how deeply villages shape identity.
